My background in Focusing

I first came across Focusing in 1990, when I needed support at a time of crisis in my life. I joined a peer practice group, and we met fortnightly. I stayed in that group for 18 years. It gave me so much personal support for whatever I was going through. I love that Focusing provides an opportunity for an equal and democratic sharing, empowering each person to get what they need in each session.

I have facilitated personal development in others and myself since 1978, and I trained in Focusing in 2000. My spiritual life is important to me, and I find that Focusing supports my spiritual practice. I am now sharing these insights with others, and I offered a webinar with The International Focusing Institute on Focusing and Practical Spirituality, where I highlighted how you can bring spiritual qualities to enhance your Focusing practice.

I believe that Focusing is a truly wonderful ability for life. It enables you to gain an invaluable resource and support for your work and your life. I work with people who are working with others, such as practitioners and health professionals, to deepen their work; and people who want Focusing for their personal healing journey.

In recent years, I have been invited to teach in India at the Just Being Centre, teaching Focusing, and also Thinking at the Edge (TAE) on their Presence-oriented therapy training courses. I am an active member of British Focusing Association (BFA), and also EFA, and I initiated a special interest group for Focusing teachers in Europe.

Testimonials

Fiona brings a gentle and very wise presence to her teaching. My course was beautifully held, and each person welcomed and listened to with such a loving respect. I learnt such an array of skills and practices to take with me.

Fiona is so experienced, passionate and knowledgeable, I wouldn’t go anywhere else to learn about Focusing.

Fiona’s warm, calm presence enables each person to move along this journey of an introduction to Focusing. She is generous with her knowledge and ever patient with our sometimes slow groping towards understanding.
