Invitation: The blind spots of our intersectionality – A New EFA Interest Group

Invitation: The blind spots of our intersectionality – A New EFA Interest Group

Dear EFA community,

At our recent annual meeting in Scotland, a group of us connected over a shared desire to explore our personal blind spots regarding “intersectionality”. For those newer to the term, intersectionality looks at how society is structured to give power and resources to certain groups while marginalizing others, and how our unique combination of identities places us within those invisible power structures. Blind spots are inevitable, also within our Focusing community.

I became aware of some blind spots from an early age but I missed the language to talk about it. These experiences left a deep impression, which later guided many of my professional choices. Creating an open space to meet in a Focusing way in Scotland, where we listened to our lived experiences, felt deeply meaningful to me.

I would love to bring this exploration to the broader EFA community. My intention is to create a welcoming space where we can share our stories and find words for our processes. I am organizing a few online meetings for anyone who would like to join this embodied dialogue. I plan to meet online a few times just to get a taste of this process, hold space for each other, and see how we might want to take the next step.

This group is warmly open to all EFA members, regardless of your background or the sections of society you identify with.

If you are interested in exploring this with us, please contact me and we will find a time to connect.

Warmly,
Mathias
